Women Union

The history of the Tangkhul Baptist Women began with Alice Goreham Pettigrew, who, alongside her husband William Pettigrew, pioneered medical and spiritual missions in Ukhrul. Despite cultural resistance, Alice devoted herself to women’s health, baptism, and education. In 1917, she founded the first Women Union at Phungyo Baptist Church. Her efforts empowered women spiritually and socially, establishing a legacy of leadership. Today, the TBCA Women Union continues her mission of uplifting and uniting Tangkhul women.
